I hope this idea of Bill Gates would be successful (as his microsoft is). Then it would be the best solution of our problem in energy...no issues on the conflicting use natural resources such as water (hydropower), land/aerial space (wind turbines), biological impediments (offshore wind/waves/tidal energy devices, and too expensive solar power...Good luck, the world is eagerly hoping for your success.
